Highlighted Volunteer Opportunities
Make Brown Bag Lunches for Families
United Way Bay Area is partnering with various Emergency Food Shelters Program and Emergency Assistance Network agencies to provide sandwiches. We're looking for volunteers with the ability to make 50-100 sandwiches for individuals who are suffering from homelessness.
Mercy Brown Bag Program, Sort/Deliver Food for Seniors - Oakland (Bay Area)
Mercy Brown Bag Program has been supporting low-income Alameda County older adults by providing nutritious groceries monthly for over 30 years. Since the pandemic, volunteers have stepped up to ensure we keep our elders safe by creating nutritious bags of groceries instead of our regular “shopping” style of distribution and delivering them to our members’ homes at no charge. (Valid through 7/1/21)
Mask Makers (Virtual Opportunity)
UWBA is looking for generous volunteers to help with the shortage of masks in the Bay Area. If you have access to fabric and a sewing machine, your donation of cloth face masks can be very helpful as the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) weighs its recommendation on use. Through 7/8/21
Help Provide 100+ BIPOC youth with Summer Reading Kits
Help us provide over 100 underserved BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, and other people of color) youth from our SparkPoint centers with Summer Reading Kits: a book bag of self-affirming books to read while sheltering in place! We have compiled dynamic book bags that feature books by authors of color whose work provides self-affirming messages for BIPOC youth. Books highlight important issues of colorism, hair texture, immigration, gender, and more so that BIPOC youth feel seen, understood, and valued. Through 5/7/21
Be an Ambassador and Comfort Seniors - Santa Clara County & Virtual
Volunteer as an Ambassador and bring Joy to a Senior's Life. Are you a natural nurturer who loves good conversation? The Sourcewise Ambassador Program is a perfect volunteer opportunity for you. Whether it’s a few minutes or an hour, a wellness call helps our elders feel connected during these uncertain times.
Create a Video to Encourage Reading - Virtual
looking for volunteers to help promote reading, particularly for children and young adults. Many schools, libraries, and community centers across the United States take part in the day by bringing people together to take part in reading books.
