2-1-1 Community Information Line

Fortunately, with 211 finding help is easy. Without 211 people are forced to make many calls to receive the help they need for just one issue. Sadly, many simply give up—letting their problems multiply.

This is especially true for the thousands of Bay Area residents affected by the current economic crisis. Many of these residents have never had to ask for help before nor use our region’s complex system of services. United Way’s 211 provides a simple solution. With just one phone call, Bay Area residents are connected to the help they need.

211 trained call center professionals provide:

  • A holistic assessment to determine the full scope and root causes of callers’ needs, understanding that callers often say they need one thing (such as food) when the real issue is a job loss that results in an inability to pay bills.
  • Follow-up to ensure callers received services and to provide additional referrals as needed. Our goal is to follow-up with 100% of all basic-needs callers.
  • Confidential assistance available 24/7 in more than 150 languages.

211 Bay Area is operated by United Way, Eden I&R and Contra Costa Crisis Center. For more information, visit 211bayarea.org.
