Are You Ready For Some Football? – Updated

NFL training camps have opened, which means pre-season isn’t far behind, and then it starts. 32 teams battling for the Vince Lombardi Trophy. Wouldn’t you like to see that in person? Well you just might. United Way is giving away two tickets to the Super Bowl. UPDATED! Winning Trip includes a five-day/four-night trip from 2/3/11 – 2/7/11 for the winner and one guest to North Texas to attend Super Bowl XLV, currently scheduled to take place on 2/6/11. Trip consists of standard double occupancy hotel accommodations — one room for four nights — and $700 spending money awarded in the form of a check for the winner only, which may be used towards round trip transportation to North Texas and two tickets to Super Bowl XLV. Dress For Success

Yesterday, Oakland Raider Nnamdi Asomugha teamed up with United Way volunteers to provide 47 Bay Area youths with professional clothing and accessories, as well as job interview training.

The event, sponsored by UPS, was the final part of United Way’s Spring Professional Clothing Drive, in which employees from 12 Bay Area companies donated more than 200 suits, dresses and other professional clothing items to benefit young job seekers.  

At the event, youth were matched with volunteers, who coached them through a mock interview and then helped the the teens select professional outfits and accessories.  The youth were all members of MatchBridge , a program that matches youth with entry-level jobs and paid summer internships, providing coaching and support throughout the job-search process.

This year in Detroit, during the halftime of the Lions- Packers game, live on Ford Field, will be the United Way halftime show which features a tribute to the 50th anniversary of Motown.
