2010 Bay Area Volunteer Awards

Do you know someone who’s making a difference by volunteering in your community? As part of their celebration of National Volunteer Week, United Way partners the Volunteer Center recognizes outstanding volunteers, nonprofits and businesses.  The nominations are currently being accepted until March 9th, and cover six areas from favorite nonprofits to outstanding efforts by a board member.  To find out where and how to submit your entries visit the Volunteer Center.

Beth Cobert, director McKinsey & Company’s San Francisco office, was recently elected chair of United Way of the Bay Area’s board of directors. As board chair, Beth will help
lead United Way’s continuing efforts to create pathways to prosperity for low-wage families and individuals in the Bay Area.

“I am deeply committed to United Way’s goals of making our community a place where people have access to the tools and resources that they need to sustain themselves,” Beth says. “United Way is unique in the role it plays in bringing together businesses, their employees, other individuals, nonprofits, and the government to address community needs
