Target Employees Put Food on the Table

Target Employees lend a hand at the Alameda County Food Bank

In San Francisco, 197,000 people struggle each day to feed themselves and their families. In Alameda County, demand for emergency food has soared 220% in the past five years. Regional food banks, thanks to the dedicated volunteers so crucial to their work, have a huge impact on the lives of families in crisis.

This May, Bay Area Target employees volunteered at the Food Banks of San Francisco, Marin, Alameda, Contra Costa and Solano Counties. They joined forces to help package food, contributing to the millions of pounds that regional food banks will distribute this year to those facing hunger in our communities.

The volunteer effort, which United Way of the Bay Area helped to coordinate, is essential at a time when many Bay Area residents are experiencing hardship.

Target team members arrived in groups as large as 30, and gave a helping hand to package foods of all types, including fresh fruits and vegetables. The end result was that thousands of pounds of food was ready to go out the door to the community.

Thank you Target team members for giving your time and hard work to make sure that those in need can put healthy and nutritious food on their table! Thank you for living united!
