United Way’s Week of Caring will take place on September 14-18. There are still lots of of half-day and full-day volunteer projects available for teams of employees. It’s a fun, free and easy way for employees to work together and create lasting change in their own communities. Register now!
Here are three great projects to consider:
2-1-1 Disaster Volunteer Training (San Francisco)
2-1-1 Bay Area plays a key role in providing information after a disaster. Find out how a disaster rolls out over the first 72 hours and during the days and weeks that follow. Discover how many volunteers it takes to set up extra 2-1-1 workstations, answer calls, keep the resources current and accurate, and what we need to do to maintain a healthy and productive work environment. Then, when a disaster strikes you can be ready to help.
Garden Spruce-Up at Martinez Early Childhood Center (Martinez)
Help transport new sand and tanbark to play areas with wheelbarrows, pull weeds, prune trees and bushes, plant small shrubs, and install a drip watering system.
Prepare Meals at MOM (San Rafael)
Help Meals of Marin (MOM) prepare healthy, appetizing, fresh meals for people with AIDS and cancer who are too ill to prepare food for themselves.
