United Way Backpack Drive

backpackdriveWith the sluggish economy, some local families are finding it difficult to purchase all the supplies their children need to start the school year.  You can help us bring smiles to the faces of Bay Area kids by collecting backpacks and supplies in your workplace.

United Way’s Backpack Drive will take place throughout the month of September.

Steps for collecting and donating bags and supplies in your workplace:

  • Determine where you will collect and store bags (at your desk, lunch room, reception area, etc.)
  • Set the final collection date and send an email to co-workers.
  • Send a reminder email one week before the collection deadline.
  • Drop off the bags at United Way of the Bay Area, 221 Main st. Suite# 300, San Francisco, CA, 94105.  If you are located in San Francisco and have 25 bags or more, please call us to at 415.808.4407 to arrange a pick up.

Kudos to Ropes and Gray, LLP which already contributed 40 filled backpacks; BRE Properties, which  donated 20; and Neiman Marcus, which  filled 30.
