Take Action for Children's Health

We need your help today to protect the nearly one million children at risk of losing their health insurance. Members of the California Budget Conference Committee are currently examining the Governor’s budget proposals and making decisions about what programs to cut. Let these and other legislators know that, while you understand the severity of the budget situation, you are shocked and disappointed that the Governor is playing politics with the lives of children.

TAKE ACTION TODAY!

Talking Points:
• I hope you will reject the Governor’s outrageous proposal to completely eliminate the state’s successful Healthy Families Program and leave nearly one million children without health coverage, including children in your district

• Eliminating or cutting Healthy Families will not only be terrible for our kids, but it will also hurt our economy by giving up federal dollars and forcing children into more costly types of care.

• This will increase costs for businesses and families and devastate the state’s already broken health care system.

• We understand that there are tough choices to make, but to balance the budget they must look at priorities – and there can be few priorities as important at children’s health care.

• We rely on our policymakers to make responsible budget decisions that keep kids safe and use taxpayer dollars wisely – please do the right thing for California’s children and reject the Governor’s proposed cuts to the Healthy Families program.
