Taking Action Across the City

As part of global management consulting firm Bain & Company’s annual Community Impact Day, teams of volunteers fan out across the Bay Area to help nonprofits with vital projects.

For example, at St. Anthony Foundation in downtown San Francisco, Bain volunteers cleaned the dining room that serves almost 3,000 meals a day, sorted second-hand clothing and helped clients improve their interview skills.

But the company’s involvement with St. Anthony’s did not end there. For the past three months, a team engaged in pro bono consulting work with the staff, evaluating St. Anthony’s operations and developing a plan that will help the organization improve their reach and results.

An annual event since 1999, Bain’s Community Impact Day was more important than ever this year as the current economic downturn has increased the demand at area nonprofits, making volunteers even more critical.

By volunteering to work with at-risk youth, clean up city parks, and assist seniors and people with disabilities, and more, Bain employees truly LIVE UNITED, providing a powerful example of how beneficial a day of community service can be in the lives of others.
