United Way of the Bay Area funded five tax assistance sites in San Francisco to participate in the FAIR (Financial Advice, Information and Referral) program for the 2008 season. The five sites are located in targeted low-income San Francisco neighborhoods.
Neighborhoods:
- Mission
- Outer Mission
- Chinatown
- Visitacion Valley
- Tenderloin
FAIR activities include:
- Provide financial services to a minimum of 30 tax filers throughout 2008
- Conduct a minimum of 30 benefit screenings with tax filers
- Conduct a minimum of 5 financial education workshops on a variety of topics
- Promote the Working Families Credit savings bond option
- Maintain a working relationship with one or more bank partners from Bank on San Francisco for the purpose of referring tax filers for high quality banking services
