Alameda County

Alameda County was the first county in Earn It! Keep It! Save It!. This county has been very active in promoting asset building activities to Earn It! Keep It! Save It! clients from the beginning. Recently, the work being done to link tax clients to asset building activities has become more formal with the help of local community partners. Alameda County Community Asset Network (Alameda County CAN) is a working group of service providers, advocates, community based organizations, public agencies, and base building organizations that work in partnership and with other stakeholders committed to increasing the income and assets of Alameda County residents. Alameda County CAN’s Mission: Alameda County CAN’s mission is to provide a continuum of strategies, services and activities that serve all low to moderate income Alameda County residents in every phase of increasing their income and assets.

Alameda County CAN members provide free or low-cost income and asset building activities to Alameda County residents:

  • Financial counseling
  • Benefits and work supports
  • Employment
  • Credit repair
  • Banking/saving products
  • Housing & foreclosure assistance
  • Legal advocacy
  • Education about predatory lending
