What is a VITA site?
Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) sites, were created by the IRS to offer low-to-moderate income families free tax preparation services. The IRS partners with community organizations such as Earn It! Keep It! Save It! Bay Area to operate VITA sites throughout the community during tax season.

What is the EITC?

The Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC), sometimes called the Earned Income Credit (EIC), is a refundable federal income tax credit for low-income working individuals and families. For 2007, the maximum income threshold for qualification to receive the EITC is $42,000.
To qualify for the Earned Income Tax Credit you must:

  • Be a U.S. Citizen or Resident Alien
  • Have earned some income in 2007, full or part time
