Bay Area 211: The Lifeline to Essential Community Services
There’s 411 and 911, but you can call 211 when you need help and don’t know where to turn?
Available 24/7 in 150 languages, the Bay Area 211 helpline connects callers with hundreds of programs to so people can find food, housing, health care, senior services, child care, legal aid, volunteer opportunities, and much more.
Instead of multiple calls leading to dead ends, with one call to 211, people can reach a trained specialist who assesses a caller’s full scope of needs and matches them to the right services. 211 also assists during times of disaster, providing critical information about evacuation routes, food, and shelter.
Bay Area 211 is operated by United Way, Eden I&R and Contra Costa Crisis Center, and we answered 185,000 calls last year. For more information, visit 211bayarea.org.
